Four-bedroom stays in downtown Louisville

If you want four bedrooms in Louisville, the five Hollyhock listings to compare are Glamorous Heart of Kentucky 4 Bed 2 bath Luxury Suite, Hollyhock Suite 501, Hollyhock Suite 502, Hollyhock Suite 302, and Bourbon Retreat: Luxe 4BR Downtown Condo w/ Spa Baths & Central Access. All five are four-bedroom, two-bath suites in downtown Louisville. Four of them sleep eight. One sleeps fourteen, and that single difference will probably decide your booking faster than anything else on this page.
Worth saying plainly at the top: these are apartment-style suites in downtown buildings on and around Main and Market, not detached houses with yards in the Highlands or Germantown. That's the real fork in the road for anyone searching "four-bedroom vacation home in Louisville." If your weekend revolves around the convention center, the Yum! Center, a show, or a bourbon crawl, you want to be downtown and you want to walk. If your weekend revolves around a backyard grill, you want something else entirely.
Eight people, or fourteen?
Four of these suites are built for eight. The Glamorous Heart of Kentucky suite is listed for fourteen, in the same four bedrooms and two bathrooms, which tells you something useful before you ever open the photos: the extra bodies sleep on sofa beds and additional beds in the living space, not in private rooms. That's a genuinely good arrangement for a family reunion or a bachelorette group that doesn't mind sharing. It's a poor one for four couples who each want a door that closes.
If you are four couples, book one of the eights. Glamorous Heart of Kentucky is also the one with an ice maker and the breakfast bars and oatmeal stocked in the kitchen, which sounds trivial until fourteen people want coffee on a Saturday morning before a 9am tee time or a tour bus. It carries a maid service listing too. Across 80 reviews it sits at 9.75 out of 10.
Two bathrooms for fourteen is the arithmetic you should do before you book. Eight people and two full baths works. Fourteen works if your group is the kind that staggers getting ready. If it isn't, Hollyhock runs combined two-suite spaces in the same buildings: The Churchill Suite and The Olmsted Suite each give you eight beds, four baths, two kitchens and two living rooms for sixteen. That's the honest upgrade path from a crowded four-bedroom, and it's worth pricing side by side rather than squeezing.
The two suites that are nearly twins, and the thing that separates them
Suites 501 and 502 sit in the same building, share the same floor plan on paper (four bedrooms, two baths, an 85-inch smart TV, a soaking tub, a chef's kitchen) and read almost identically in their amenity lists: city view, sound system, spices in the cupboard, bedroom door locks, blackout curtains. Both allow long stays. Both have a dedicated workspace, which is the detail business travelers should note, because a four-bedroom suite with a desk and a washer-free, clutter-free setup is a different proposition to a hotel room with a laptop on the bed.
The separator is the review record. Suite 501 holds a perfect 10 across 50 reviews. Suite 502 sits at 9.59 across 49. That is a narrow gap and both are strong numbers, but if the two are priced the same for your dates and you only need one, start with the building's other listings open in a second tab and book 501 first. If 501 is gone, 502 is not a consolation prize; it's the same layout with one fewer perfect score.
Neither 501 nor 502 lists a washer and dryer in the suite itself. The Bourbon Retreat and the Glamorous Heart of Kentucky suite both do. For a two-night Derby weekend that's irrelevant. For a week-long stay with kids, or a work trip where you'd rather not pack five shirts, it isn't.
Travelling with a baby, or with someone who can't do stairs
Two of these listings are set up for small children without you hauling gear across three states. The Bourbon Retreat and Glamorous Heart of Kentucky both list a pack-n-play, a high chair and children's dinnerware. Hollyhock Suite 302 lists children's dinnerware as well. That matters more than it sounds: a four-bedroom booking with a toddler usually means one parent spends the first evening finding a crib, and these two remove that errand.
On access, four of the five (Bourbon Retreat, 501, 502 and Glamorous Heart of Kentucky) carry a wheelchair accessible designation, and every one of the five lists elevator access in the building. If anyone in your party has mobility needs, confirm the specifics suite by suite with us before you book rather than relying on the tick box, because the useful questions (door widths, the bathroom layout, the route from the garage) are answered properly by a person and not a listing field.
All five are pet-friendly for an additional fee, which is rarer in downtown buildings than in suburban houses. Tell us in advance.
What the downtown location actually buys you

Market Street puts you directly across from the Kentucky International Convention Center and around the corner from the KFC Yum! Center. The Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory is on West Main, a short walk from the suites, and families who come for the bat factory usually pair it with the science center the same day. Fourth Street Live! is about a block away. The Kentucky Center for the Arts, where the Broadway tours and symphony programs land, is three blocks on. Bourbon tours leave from around this location regularly, and the Urban Bourbon Trail runs through Whiskey Row, which is the same few blocks of Main.
Everything above is walkable from a standing start at the front door, which is the entire argument for staying downtown instead of in a house out in the neighborhoods. It's also why these suites work for conventions: you can go back to the room between sessions, which nobody staying five miles out ever does.
Beyond the walking radius, Louisville opens up quickly. Waterfront Park runs along the river at the north edge of downtown, and the Big Four Bridge crosses from it as a pedestrian route. The Muhammad Ali Center is on North Sixth. Churchill Downs is roughly a fifteen-minute drive from downtown, with the Kentucky Derby Museum on the grounds for anyone visiting outside race days. NuLu, the East Market District, is where to eat: Garage Bar, Mayan Café, Harvest, Lou Lou on Market. Proof on Main sits inside the 21c Museum Hotel on West Main and does Southern cooking surrounded by contemporary art, which is a more interesting hour than it sounds.
For a morning out of the city, Cherokee Park is an Olmsted park east of downtown with a scenic loop road that separates walkers from traffic. The Parklands of Floyds Fork, four linked parks on the eastern edge of the county, is about twenty minutes out.
Parking, and getting in from the airport
Paid parking is listed on all five suites, and the garage next door is the arrangement we recommend. For Suite 302 and its building, that's the Cowger Parking Garage, directly adjacent. Street meters run through the surrounding blocks and are typically free from 6pm to 8am, which is how most short-stay guests end up handling an evening arrival. Detailed instructions come with your booking.
Honestly, many groups don't drive at all. Uber from the airport runs about ten minutes, rideshare is constant downtown, and once you're here the attractions above are on foot. If your trip is a convention, a concert and dinner in NuLu, skipping the rental car is the cheaper and less annoying choice.
Before you hit book
A few things to settle with us rather than assume from a listing page:
- The bed layout. "Four bedrooms, sleeps eight" and "four bedrooms, sleeps fourteen" describe very different rooms. Ask which beds are where before you assign them.
- Live availability and the total. Rates across the portfolio run roughly $195 to $850 a night before taxes and fees, and the spread depends on the suite, the size and the week. Confirm the all-in figure for your dates.
- Derby weekend terms. Kentucky Derby reservations become non-refundable within three months of arrival. If you're booking late April or early May, know that going in.
- Pets and parking fees. Both are available, both carry a charge, and both are easier arranged before you arrive than at 11pm in a garage.
- Whether four bedrooms is really the right number. If you're at the top of a sleeps-eight listing, look at the eight-bed, four-bath combined suites before you commit.
We keep a guidebook for guests with addresses and recommendations around the city, which is more use than a general list because it's written from this address. Check-in is contactless with a key card or code, and the suite itself (bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen, living areas) is yours alone, with only the hallways and lobby shared.
Short version
Fourteen guests and a tolerance for sharing: Glamorous Heart of Kentucky. Eight adults who all want a private door and a soaking tub: Suite 501, then 502. A family with a baby and laundry to do mid-week: Bourbon Retreat. A quieter, simpler four-bedroom with a workspace, a sound system and an in-room safe: Suite 302. Sixteen people and four bathrooms: stop looking at four-bedrooms and price The Churchill Suite or The Lou Belle Suite instead.
